   vepar, the tactician ϟ evander, the support the body of virgil gerhard, housing the demon vepar, operating under the name evander. virgil works as IT for the american military and though technically his clearance isn't that high, he has been known to flip a proverbial switch or two in order to keep his favored side winning in this global conflict or that. unlike so many of his infernal brothers and sisters, vepar doesn't flourish as a result of corruption, but instead flourishes as the result of winning. considered wholly amoral but not entirely 'evil', the corruption that vepar spreads is symptomatic of the conflict he helps perpetuates and not the direct result of his actions. he places an emphasis on intelligence rather than brute strength but vepar himself is not above acts of viciousness if there is a tactical advantage to be gleaned. he frowns actively on misplaced compulsion and, as a result, has a tendency to judge some of his infernal brethren — especially those that impulsively act on baser appetites. evander presents himself as friendly, easy-going, and socially eager, filled with a willingness to always provide assistance to others when needed. vepar, on the other hand, is precise, cold and emotionally detached as well as capable of insightful assessment of both human motivation and impetus through careful observation. he strives for tactical advantage through deliberate action though, like evander, vepar is also a team player. not wholly loyal but not completely faithless either, vepar is known to side with whomever he sees as the likely winner in any given power struggle; often, he will back a horse until it is no longer viable, though he will not do so to his own detriment and will promptly switch sides if he realizes he's handicapping himself. he is one of the older demons aboard the tranquility, and notably older than crowley himself (note: cleared and discussed with Effy). vepar is among those who know of crowley's ascent in hell and fully backs his bid for control. |
